23 members of the Cary Academy Speech and Debate team participated in the virtual state championship hosted by the Tarheel Forensic League on Saturday April 30th. The team had an excellent showing placing second in overal sweepstakes, as well as second in both debate sweeps and speech sweeps. Isabel Chang was named the state champion in Declamation and the runner -up in Impromptu Speaking; and Casey Powell was undefeated and the top seed in the preliminary rounds before advacing to the final round to finish as the runner-up in Lincoln Douglas Debate.
