Cary Academy defended its overall sweepstakes title at the second All-Star Invitational hosted by Gray's Creek High School in Fayetteville. The team's victory was spearheaded by an outstanding showing in Lincoln Douglas Debate where CA took 1st - 4th in Varsity, as well as 6th; and 2nd in JV as well as 4th - 6th. In addition CA students were the champions in Varsity Congress, JV Public Forum , and Extemporaneous Speaking. Individual student winners were as follows:

The team enjoyed a strong showing placing 3rd place in overall sweepstakes. These included: Abby Getz and Kristin Andrejko-Varsity Public Forum Debate (7th Place) Kenny Cho-Novice Lincoln Douglas Debate (9th Place) Andrew Manglesdorf-Novice Lincoln Douglas Debate (11th Place) Nyal Patel-Varsity Lincoln Douglas Debate (7th Place) Andrew Glosson-Varsity Lincoln Douglas Debate (8th Place) Bailey Medley-Varsity Lincoln Douglas Debate (9th Place) Carolyn Calder-Varsity Lincoln Douglas Debate (11th Place) Sindhor Ambati-Varsity Lincoln Douglas (12th Place) Special thanks to all of our parent judges who were there to help: Leigh Anderson, Pam Andrejko, Bill Bastin, Tracy Cuffe, Mike Ehrhardt, Shwety Goswami, Beth Jones, Sean Kerns, Parrish Ketchmark, Janet Lennon, Greg Stephens, and Sunny Surana. 32 members of the Cary Academy Speech and Debate Team traveled to Southern Pines on Saturday November 2 to participate in the SandHoke Early College Tournament hosted on the campus of SandHills Community College. The team had an excellent showing placing 2nd in overall sweepstakes. In Lincoln Douglas Debate Nyal Patel placed first in Varsity which means that CA has won Varsity LD at all three local tournaments it has attended so far this year. In JV LD, CA took five of the six places on stage with Siobhan Cuffe placing 1st, Henna Judge 2nd, Jack Lattimore 4th, Sindhoor Ambati 5th, and Sneha Advani 6th. In Novice LD, Tylor Moore was 6th. In Public Forum Kevin Wu and Alex Yang were first in JV and Matt Glenn and Owen Guard were 4th. Matthew Gibbon and Richard Van Vilet were 5th in Varsity. Bill Peebles was 2nd in Extemp and 4th in Impromptu, and Nate Jones was 5th in Extemp. Spencer Reed was the Best Presiding Officer in the Senate as well.
