33 novice members of the Cary Academy Speech and Debate team competed in the Grey Matter Invitational hosted on CA's campus on Saturday December 17th. The team had an outstanding showing winning the novice divisons of both Lincoln Douglas and Public Forum where four CA teams closed out the semifinal round. CA also had multiple entries reach the final rounds of Declamation and Impromptu Speaking. The following individual students were recognized for their performances:

The tournament took place in person for the first time in three years and Cary Academy had its best ever showing at this tournament placing 3rd in overall sweepstakes. The teams overall standing was bolstered by strong performances in both the speech and debate events. In speech CA had 9 entries reach the elimination rounds, four of which advanced all the way to finals. On the debate side there were 6 LDers who broke matching the largest number ever, as well as 3 Public Forum teams.
