31 members of the Cary Academy Speech and Debate team competed in the speech and debate portion of the Carolina East District tournament on CA's campus over the weekend of March 25th and 26th. After an intense two days of competition 10 Cary Academy students ended up qualifying to compete at the National Speech and Debate Association's National Tournament to he held in Arizona in June. The students qualifying to represent the Carolina East district in Phoenix were:

This is also the 23rd straight year CA has had an Extemper qualify for Nationals and the 11th straight year qualifying in LD. 40 members of the Cary Academy Speech and Debate Team traveled to Charlotte over the weekend of March 4th thru 5th to compete in the annual Tarheel Forensic League State Championship hosted by Myers Park High School. CA finished the weekend as the runner up in overall sweepstakes and for the second year in a row was the champion in Speech sweepstakes. The team's performance was led by individual state championships in four events: Aida Lo in Declamation, Andrew Lim in Dramatic Interpretation, Isabel Chang & Samantha Perez in Duo Interpretation, and Rehan Mahmood & Yul Choi in Novice Lincoln Douglas Debate.
