A group of 35 members of the CA Speech and Debate team competed virtually in the Villiger Tournament hosted by St. Joseph's University over the weekend of November 21st-22nd. The team had an outstanding showing finishing 7th out of 70 schools from 15 different states in overall sweepstakes. Price Taylor and William Su reached the Octafinal round of Junior Varsity Public Forum Debate and William was the 6th Place Speaker. In Varsity Lincoln Douglas Debate Casey Powell was undefeated in prelims and finished as the top seed before losing in the quarterfinal round. He was also the 2nd Place Speaker and Natasha Sachar was 7th. In Novice Lincoln Douglas Debate Jasmine Ye was the 4th Place Speaker. In Declamation Andrew Lim reached the final round placing 6th, Anna Berger the semifinal round placing 9th, and Lexis Davlia the quarterfinal round placing her in the top 18 of 48 entries. Alex Lim reached the semifinals of Dramatic Performance placing 7th out of 34 entries. Katherine He double broke to finals placing 2nd in Informative Speaking and 6th in Original Oratory.
On Saturday November 14th 115 members of the Cary Academy Speech and Debate team competed virtually in the second Dogwood Speech and Debate League tournament of the year. The team turned in another dominant showing winning overall sweepstakes for the thrid time this season. The following individual student performances contributed to the team's overall victory:

Jay Sagrolikar reached the semifinals of Student Congress placing in the top 54 of 179 competitors. In Novice Public Forum Debate the team of Adam Levin and Maddie Alvarez reached the Octafinal round placing them in the top 16 of 45 entries. Ellie Alvarez was the 3rd Place Speaker, Anya Jain was 4th, Eric Xie 7th, and Ayan Jung 8th. In Novice Lincoln Douglas Debate Anna Titcomb reached the Semifinal Round (Top 4), Jasmine Ye the Quarterfinal round (Top 8) and Hamza Adan the Octafinal round (Top 9). Anna Titcomb was also the 7th Place Speaker.
