65 members of the Cary Academy Speech and Debate team competed virtually in the fifth Dogwood tournament of the season on Saturday Janaury 22nd. The team placed first in overall sweepetakes based on strong peformances in both speech and debate including placing first in Varsity LD, Varsity PF, Declamation, and Impromptu. The following students individual placements contributed to the team's overall victory:

The team had an outstanding showing tying for 3rd Place in Overall Sweepstakes out of a field of 88 schools representing 23 states. In Declamation Andrew Lim and Anna Berger closed out the tournament placing first and second respectively. Andrew also broke in Original Oratory reaching the semifinal round. Katherine He was the runner-up in Informative Speaking. In Varsity Public Forum Debate CA had three teams reach the elimination rounds which was tied for the most of any school. The teams of Adam Farris & Andrew Lake; Nash Brown and Evan Chang; and Ayan Jung & Adam Levin all reached the Double Octafinal round. Andrew Lake was also the 3rd place speaker. In Varsity LD both Natasha Sachar and Casey Powell reached the Quarterfinal Round allowing CA to tie for the most students to reach the elimination rounds as well as being the only school with two debaters in Quarters. Casey Powell was also 5th in the LD Challenge held in conjunction with the tournament,
