CA won overall sweepstakes for the fourth time at a Dogwood League tournament this season as 64 students traveled to Hope Mills to compete in Dogwood #5. The following individual student placements contributed to the team's overall victory:

CA cleared half of the ten LDers who reached the elimination rounds. CA wound up with half of the four debaters in semifinals with both Grey Spector and Grace Jin advancing to that round before being eliminated. CA also had half the quarterfinal round with Sullivan Morgus reaching that round before losing, and Chelsea Fang closed out one quarterfinal with Grey Spector. Oonagh Stevans reached the octafinal round before being eliminated. In Congressional Debate half of the 14 debaters to reach the final round were from Cary Academy. Jack Stafford placed 2nd in finals and Ben Lipson 7th. Anjali Velu, Aleksia Kleine, Tommy Hugus, Ryan Janssen, and RJ Jain all reached the final round of Congress as well. In the speech events Divya Vijayakumar was 4th in Extemporaneous Speaking and Eesha Sachdeve was a semifinalist in Original Oratory.
Four members of the Cary Academy Speech and Debate team traveled to Tempe Arizona on the weekend of January 7th - 10th to compete in the Southwest Championships hosted at Arizona State University. All four competitors reached the elimination rounds of their respective events led by Jack Stafford who placed 8th in the finals of Congressional Debate. Jonathan Segal was 10th in Congressional Debate, and Ben Lipson reached the semifinal round of Congressional Debate. Divya Vijayakumar earned first place in all of her prelim rounds en route to being the top seed in Extemporaneous Speaking. She eventually reached the quarterfinal round before being eliminated..
14 members of the Cary Academy Speech and Debate team traveled to Charlotte the weekend of January 8th - 9th to compete in the Laird Lewis Invitational hosted by Myers Park High School. The team had an outstanding showing placing 6th overall out of 50 schools from over 10 different states. The team's effort was led by Evan Ehrhardt who placed first in Declamation and reached the semifinals of Dramatic Interpretation; as well as reaching the final round of Duo Interpretation with his sister Emma placing 6th. Emma was also the top seed in Original Oratory where she reached the final round before being eliminated, and reached the final round of Informative placing 3rd. Julia Gong was also a semifinalist in OO as well as a finalist in Informative placing 5th. Eve Taylor reached the semifinal round in Radio Speaking. In Student Congress Nate Jones placed second in his prelim chamber to advance to the final session where he placed 7th overall. Anjali Velu and Matthew Mitten just missed reaching finals placing 6th and 7th in their prelim chambers respectively.
