Cary Academy had an excellent day at the Guilford County Challenge coming in 4th overall out of 44 schools. In Novice Public Forum 5 of the 12 placing teams were from CA, including first place. In Novice Lincoln Douglas, 4 of the top 8 were Cary Academy competitors. In Varsity LD, CA had 3 of the top 8. Individual students earning recognition were:

Bill Peebles reached the quarterfinal round of Extemporaneous Speaking placing in the top 40 of 153 competitors. In Lincoln Douglas Debate there was a field of 108 debaters and the tournament broke to a Double Octafinals round of the top 32 competitors after 5 rounds. CA had 6 LDers advance to Doubles, no other school had more than 2. CA closed out one Double Octafinal round with Patrick Lambert advancing over Carolyn Calder, and Nyal Patel won his doubles round as well. Hannah Hubbard, Puj Adusumilli, and Alexis Williams all lost their doubles rounds on 2-1 decisions. In the Octafinal round both Nyal Patel and Patrick Lambert lost on 2-1 decisions. Thanks to CA alums Harry Lambert and Zach Dresher who both judged for the team at the tournament. |
