5 members of the Cary Academy Debate team competed virtually in the 2nd TOC Digital Speech and Debate series tournament of the season over the weekend of February 24th-26th. Akshay Mandhare was a semifinalist in Varsity Congressional Debate and Derek Han was a double octafinalist in Varsity Lincoln Doglas Debate.
40 members of the Cary Academy Speech and Debate team traveled to Apex Friendship High School on Saturday February 25th to compete in the 6th and final Dogwood Speech and Debate tournament of the year. Cary Academy ended the season as the top peforming school in the Dogwood League winning the Carole Hamilton School of Excellence Award for the eight year in a row. CA was also recognized as the inagural winner of the first Founder's Award which recognizes a school's cumaltive performance at Dogwood tournaments from year to year. Several CA students were also recognized as the winners of the Points Race based on their cumlative performance at Dogwood tournaments this year. Those students were:

At DSDL 6 CA placed 3rd in sweepstakes based on the following students performances in their individual events: Rehan Mahmood-4th Place, Novice Lincoln Douglas Debate Yul Choi-6th Place, Novice Lincoln Douglas Debate Serena Patel & Joyce Yu-4th Place, Novice Public Forum Debate Steve Zhong & Alex Liu-5th Place, Novice Public Forum Debate Aida Lo-2nd Place, Declamation Henry Lim-3rd Place, Declamation Avani Bhat & Kajal Parmar-1st Place, Duo Interpretation Isabel Chang & Samantha Perez-2nd Place, Duo Interpretation Kajal Parmar-5th Place, Extemporaneous Speakingg Kaninda Nzinga-6th Place, Extemporaneous Speaking Sarah Shaugnessy-11th Place, Impromptu Speaking 33 members of the CA Speech and Debate team traveled to Cambridge Massachusetts over President's Day weekend to compete in the 49th Annual Harvard Forensics Tournament hosted by Harvard University. In Junior Varsity Lincoln Douglas Debate CA had 8 competitors reach the elimnation rounds, the most of any school. Rebecca Liu advanced all the way to the final round where she prevailed on a 4-1 decision to be named tournament champion. CA was one ballot away from closing out the tournament as Allen Huang advanced all the way to the semifinal round before being eliminated on a spilt 2-1 decision. Dana Jhong was an ocatafinalist and Sarah Hussain reached the double octafinal round before being eliminated in a coach over. Simren Mehta, Patrick Liu, Chris Gillham, and Anya Lunari were all triple octafinalists. Rebecca was the 2nd Speaker, Allen the 3rd, and Dana was 4th. In Varsity LD, Derek Han reach the Quadruple Octafinal round. The Varsity PF team of Fiona Hu and Ella Zhang were semifinalists in the round robin held before the tournament, and reached the quadruple octafinal round in the tournament proper. Andrew Lim was an octafinalist in Dramatic Interpretation and Callie Chang was an octafinalist in Informative Speaking.
10 members of the CA Speech and Debate team competed virtually over the weekend of February 11th thru 12th in the 37th Annual Stanford Invitational hosted by Stanford University. Callie Chang was the champion of Junior Varsity Informative/Expository Speaking. Rebecca Liu and Riley Ro both advanced to the Triple Octafinal round of Varsity Lincoln Douglas Debate.
14 members of the CA Speech and Debate team competed in the Carolina East District Congressional Debate national qualifying tournament hosted by North Raleigh Christain Academy. Will Capps placed 3rd in the Senate while four CA students advanced to the final session of House. Pranav Ravalulapti placed 7th, Priyanka Patel 9th, Akshay Mandahare 13th, and Kaeshev Alapati 15th.
49 members of the CA Speech and Debate team traveled to Fayetteville on Saturday February 4th to compete in the 5th Dogwood League tournament of the year hosted by Cumberland Polytechinc High School on the campus of Fayetteville Technical Community College. For the fifth time in five tournaments CA was the sweepstakes champion of a DSDL tournament led by am impressive closeout of the top five places in Novice Lincoln Douglas Debate.
