32 members of the Cary Academy Speech and Debate team traveled to Southern Pines over the weekend of April 2nd and 3rd to participate in the Tarheel Forensic League State Championship tournament hosted by Pinecrest High School. Competing in the team's first in person tournament in over two years resulted in an excellent showing as CA won first place in the Kurt Earnest Speech Sweepstakes and placed 3rd in the Governor's Cup for overall sweepstakes. For the second year in a row CA had two individual state champions as Katherine He repeated as the state champion in Informative Speaking and JR Cobb was the state champion in Impromptu Speaking.
