Eight Cary Academy students traveled to Phoenix and Mesa Arizona over the week of June 10th thru 17th to compete in the annual National Speech and Debate Association's National Tournament. CA had an outstanding showing with six of those eight students reaching the elimination rounds in either their primary or supplemental events. Rebecca Liu was the 7th Place Speaker out of 280 entries in Lincoln Douglas Debate, as well as reaching the 10th round of competition to finish 28th overall. The Public Forum team of Ayan Jung and Adam Levin were the only team to go undefeated in the preliminary rounds finishing as the top seed of 276 entries. They reached the 9th round of competition finishing 37th overall. Based on these perfomances Cary Academy was recognized as a Debate School of Honor which recognize the top 40 schools in the nation in debate events at the National Tournament. This was CA's 5th time earning this distinction. Hailey Zhang reached the octafinal round of Informative Speaking finishing 45th out of 268 entries. Kajal Parmar reached the semifinal round of Extemp Commentary finishing 14th out of 317 entries. Asha Gupta reached the quarterfinal round of Original Spoken Word Poetry finshing 19th out of 242 entries. Hamza Adnan and Fiona Hu also competed in World Schools Debate.
