24 members of the Cary Academy Speech and Debate team competed in the Tarheel East NSDA District Tournament for Speech and Debate events hosted virtually over the weekend of March 13th-14th. CA had an outstanding showing winning speech sweepstakes and finishing second overall in sweepstakes and adding an additional 11 qualifers to the National Tournament in June. The full results of the district tournament were as follows: Casey Powell-1st Place, Lincoln Douglas Debate Price Taylor & William Su-6th Place, Public Forum Debate Anna Berger-4th Place, Dramatic Interpretation Alex Lim-3rd Place, Humorous Interpretation Arjun Mandhare-5th Place, Humorous Interpretation Katherine He-1st Place, Informative Speaking; 7th Place, Original Oratory Nitya Nalamothu-2nd Place, International Extemporaneous Speaking; 3rd Place, United States Extemporaneous Speaking JR Cobb-3rd Place, International Extemporaneous Speaking; 2nd Place, United States Extemporaneous Speaking EJ Jo-7th Place, International Extemporaneous Speaking; 7th Place, United States Extemporaneous Speaking Sydney Tai-6th Place, Original Oratory; 4th Place, Program of Oral Interpretation CA has now qualified for the National tournament for 21 consecutive years, the longest active streak in the Tarheel East District.
