Five members of the Cary Academy Speech and Debate team traveled to New Haven Connecticut over the weekend of September 19-21 to compete in the Yale Invitational hosted at Yale University. Senior Bill Peebles reached the quarterfinals of Extemporaneous Speaking placing him in the top 24 of 124 competitors. In Congressional Debate Jack Stafford ('17) was the runner-up in his preliminary chamber before advancing the semifinal session placing him in the 60 of 190 students competing. Grace Jin ('17) reached the round of 32 in Junior Varsity Lincoln Douglas Debate, and was also the 14th Place Speaker out of 98 debaters in that division.
