47 members of the CA Speech & Debate team traveled to Fayetteville over the weekend of April 1st and 2nd to compete in the Tarheel Forensic League State Tournament. 22 of those 47 students advanced to the elimination rounds in their respective events as the team had competitors clear in seven different events. Jack Stafford placed 3rd in the finals of Congress after winning his preliminary chamber, and Jonathan Segal was named the Best Presiding Officer in finals after advancing out of his preliminary chamber where he placed 6th. The Duo team of Grace Seidel and Grace Wissink reached the finals of Duo Interpretation placing 6th, Eesha Sachdeva reached the semis of Original Oratory, and Viraj Garg reached the semis of Informative Speaking. The team of Mason Reece and Tori Borlase were octafinalists in JV Public Forum Debate. CA had 13 LDers advance to the elimination rounds the most of any school in the tournament, with 10 clearing in JV which was also the most of any school, and 3 clearing in Varsity which was tied for the most. Grace Jin was a quarterfinalist in Varsity, and Chelsea Fang and Oonagh Stevans were octafinalists. In JV Viraj Shah and Christian Sodano were quarterfinalists; Cate Pitterle, Will Aarons, Anna Ibrahim, and Jessica Zhong were octafinalists; and Milen Patel, Anthony Guzzo, Sydney Nguyen, and Salma Said were double ocatfinalists.
