39 members of the Cary Academy Speech and Debate team competed virtually over the weekend of December 5th and 6th in the Patriot Games Classic hosted by George Mason University. The team placed 5th place in overall sweepstakes out of a field of 65 schools respresenting 18 states, replcating CA's best ever performance at this highly competitive tournament. Andrew Lim reached the final round of Declamation placing 4th overall. Owen Kadis reached the quarterfinal round of Extemporaneous Speaking, while Sophia Liu reached the semifinals of Impromptu Speaking with Sonia Shah and JR Cobb both reaching the quarterfinals. Katherine He, Sophia Liu, and JR Cobb all reached the semifinals of Informative Speaking, with Emma Tang reaching the quarterfinal round. Casey Powell was the champion of Lincoln Douglas Debate, and Bryan Fang and Kaeshev Alapati both reached the octafinal round as well. Christina Polge was a semifinalist in Oral Interpretation, Katherine He a semifinalist in Original Oratory, and Arielle Curtis a semifinalist in Program of Oral Interpretation. In Public Forim Debate three CA teams reached the elimination rounds with Adam Farris and Andrew Lake reaching quarters, and the teams of Olivia & Lincoln Willard and Adam Levin & Maddie Alvarez reaching the double ocatfinal round. The team of Farris and Lake were also recognized as the 3rd place Speakers.
