Seven members of the CA Speech and Debate team traveled to Gainesville Florida over the weekend of October 30th - November 1st to compete in the Blue Key tournament hosted by the University of Florida. All seven students were recognized for the performances at the very competitive tournament. Jack Stafford reached finals of Congressional Debate breaking out of both his prelim chamber and his semifinal chamber. He as also recognized as the Best Presiding Officer in his prelim chamber. Ben Lipson reached the semifinals of Congressional Debate, and Divya Vijayakumar was a quaterfinalist in Foreign Extemporaneous Speaking. In Novice LD Anna Ibrahim reached the final round without dropping a single ballot. She ultimately placed second and was the 3rd place speaker. Viraj Shah reached the quartefinals where he was advanced over by Ibrahim, and Salma Said reached the octafinal round. Caroline Spancake just missed breaking but was the 6th place speaker, Said was 7th, and Shah was 8th. This was the fifth straight year a Cary Academy student has reached the final round in Novice LD at the Blue Key Tournament.
