15 Cary Academy students competed against other competitors from North Carolina's strongest forensics teams in four events at the inaugural Cavalier Challenge hosted by Durham Academy. The tournament was a special team round robin format where each squad entered three students or teams in each of the following events: Congressional Debate, Extemporaneous Speaking, Lincoln Douglas Debate, and Public Forum Debate. Each team ranked their competitors in each event who were then paired against the similarly ranked students from the other schools. CA finished second overall as a team with 8 of our 12 entries placing first or second in their respective divisions. Puj Adusumilli was first among the teams top ranked LDers going undefeated, Ted Waechter was first among the top ranked Congress people, and Matt Owens was first among the 3rd ranked Extempers. Sam Title and Jeffrey Kenna were second among the second ranked PF teams, Orlin Velev and Bill Peebles were second among the first and second ranked Extempers, and Patrick Lambert and Hannah Hubbard were second among the second and third ranked LDers
