The Dogwood Speech and Debate League's regular season came to an end on Saturday February 4th as the sixth and final Dogwood Tournament was hosted by Gray's Creek High School. CA had an fantastic day repeating as winners of the Carole Hamilton School of Excellence Award given to the school who accumulates the most points throughout the league season, winning individual points race championships in three events, placing second in overall sweepstakes, and qualifying 25 students to compete in the NCFL Grand Nationals tournament in Louisville Kentucky in May. The individual points race champions were as follows:
Jack Stafford-1st, Student Congress Chamber B Cate Pitterle- 1st, Novice Lincoln Douglas Debate Sullivan Morgus- 1st, Varsity Lincoln Douglas Debate Grace Jin- 2nd, Varsity Lincoln Douglas Debate Evan Ehrhardt- 2nd, Program of Oral Interpretation Evan Ehrhardt- 3rd, Original Oratory Ben Lipson-3rd Place, Student Congress Chamber A Becca Segal- 3rd, Declamation Diviya Vijayakumar- 3rd, Extemporaneous Speaking Jonathan Segal-4th, Extemporaneous Speaking Emily Keady- 4th, Declamation Olivia Halferty & Milen Patel-4th Place, Varsity Public Forum Debate Cameron Hasund- 5th, Declamation Davis Braswell- 5th, Extemporaneous Speaking In addition to these students who were recognized Dr. Alexandra Sencer was inducted into the Dogwood Speech and Debate League Hall of Fame.
