10 members of the CA Speech and Debate team competed virtually over the weekend of February 11th thru 12th in the 37th Annual Stanford Invitational hosted by Stanford University. Callie Chang was the champion of Junior Varsity Informative/Expository Speaking. Rebecca Liu and Riley Ro both advanced to the Triple Octafinal round of Varsity Lincoln Douglas Debate.
14 members of the CA Speech and Debate team competed in the Carolina East District Congressional Debate national qualifying tournament hosted by North Raleigh Christain Academy. Will Capps placed 3rd in the Senate while four CA students advanced to the final session of House. Pranav Ravalulapti placed 7th, Priyanka Patel 9th, Akshay Mandahare 13th, and Kaeshev Alapati 15th.
49 members of the CA Speech and Debate team traveled to Fayetteville on Saturday February 4th to compete in the 5th Dogwood League tournament of the year hosted by Cumberland Polytechinc High School on the campus of Fayetteville Technical Community College. For the fifth time in five tournaments CA was the sweepstakes champion of a DSDL tournament led by am impressive closeout of the top five places in Novice Lincoln Douglas Debate. Will Capps reached the semifinal session of Congressional Debate; Hailey Zhang and Michael Singleton reached the quarterfinal rounds of Informative and Extemporaneous Speaking respectively; and the team of Fiona Hu and Derek Han reached the triple-octafinal round of Public Forum Debate.
61 members of the Cary Academy Speech and Debate team traveled to Fayetteville on Saturday January 21st to compete in the fourth Dogwood League tournament of the year hosted by Cape Fear High School. For the fourth time at a Dogwood Tournament and the sixth time overall this year CA was the overall sweepstakes champion. The team had a phenemonal showing placing first out of 50 schools representing 14 different states in Overall Sweepstakes. The team's victory was a result of strong showings in both the speech and debate events as CA was also first in Debate and second in Speech Sweepstakes. The team had an outstanding showing placing first in Debate sweepstakes out of 25 schools representing 8 different states. This performance was based on strong showings across multiple divisons. In Varsity Public Forum Debate the team of Adam Levin and Ayan Jung reached the final round placing 2nd overall and the team of Fiona Hu and Ella Zhang recached the semifinals before being eliminated on a split decision. In Novice Public Forum Debate the team of Daphne DiFrancesco and Raya Jung reached the semifinal round before being eliminated on a split decision. In Varsity Lincoln Douglas Debate Derek Han was the runner up after reaching the final round, and in Novice Lincoln Douglas Debate CA had 3 of the 4 students in the semifinals. Anna Sophia Polge lost in the semifinals on a spilt decision and Rehan Mahmood was advanced over by Anjali Narahari. Anjali won the final round on a 2-1 decision to finish undefeated and as the tournament champion. In Varsity Congressional Debate Camryn Friedman advanced to the final round after placing fourth in her preliminary chamber placing 12th overall. In Dramatic Interpretation Asha Gupta placed 5th.
33 novice members of the Cary Academy Speech and Debate team competed in the Grey Matter Invitational hosted on CA's campus on Saturday December 17th. The team had an outstanding showing winning the novice divisons of both Lincoln Douglas and Public Forum where four CA teams closed out the semifinal round. CA also had multiple entries reach the final rounds of Declamation and Impromptu Speaking. The following individual students were recognized for their performances:

The tournament took place in person for the first time in three years and Cary Academy had its best ever showing at this tournament placing 3rd in overall sweepstakes. The teams overall standing was bolstered by strong performances in both the speech and debate events. In speech CA had 9 entries reach the elimination rounds, four of which advanced all the way to finals. On the debate side there were 6 LDers who broke matching the largest number ever, as well as 3 Public Forum teams. Will Capps was the champion of Congressional Debate while Avani Bhat and Hailey Zhang were the runners up in Declamation and Informative Speaking respectively. Andrew Lim placed 3rd in Dramatic Performance and Jacob Farris placed 3rd in Informative. Anna Berger was also a semifinalist in Original Oratory.
