Cary Academy had an amazing showing at the University of Florida's Blue Key Tournament highlighted by a sweep of both divisions of Lincoln Douglas Debate. Puj Adusmulli was the champion of Varsity Lincoln Douglas Debate and Laura Cabana was the champion of Novice LD after going undefeated throughout the entire tournament with a perfect 10-0 record. Cary Academy also had four other students break in Varsity Lincoln Douglas. CA closed out one half of the semifinal bracket when Nyal Patel and Adusumilli were paired against one another. After advancing as the higher seed Adusumilli won the final round on a 3-0 decision. Hannah Hubbard reached the octafinal round before losing on a split decision, and Alec Fischbein and Carrie Schellenberger both reached the double octafinal round before losing. In Congressional Debate, Ted Waechter was a finalist after advancing out of his preliminary chamber and placing in the top 5 of his semifinal session, placing him in the top 20 out of well over 100 legislative debaters. The team as a whole placed 5th in overall sweepstakes in spite of only having 9 students who competed at the tournament. Prior to the tournament Puj Adusumilli and Hannah Hubbard placed 2nd and 3rd respectively in the LD Round Robin. Comments are closed.
